DRE_photo.JPGAbout your Police Youth Education Officer

Let me introduce myself - I am Senior Constable Dianne Reade.

I have been involved in Law Enforcement since 1978 and started teaching Law Related Education Programmes in Auckland schools in 1991. Following a transfer to the Waikato I spent three years working on the Traffic Alcohol Group (Booze Bus) before being appointed as the Police Education Officer for the Matamata/Piako area, in 2007.

I have a graduate Diploma in Special Education, plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Professional Development, and have a particular interest in all areas of Special Education. I attended the Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis (IABA) in Los Angeles where I undertook the training that was the basis for the S.E.S. “Waikato Project”. This subsequently became the training for the BEST team, and for some RTLBs.

I am one of three Police Youth Education Officers (PEOs) who work in the Eastern Waikato Police Area. Our role is to work in partnership with schools and teachers to educate students from New Entrants to Year 13, in the areas of Road Safety Education and Crime Prevention.

My area extends from Tahuna to Te Poi, and Motumaoho to Manawaru, incorporating 2 Secondary, 2 Intermediate, and 21 Primary Schools. I generally work Monday to Friday 8am-4pm but have the flexibility to adjust my hours to meet the needs of my schools.

I can be contacted via the Morrinsville Police Station and have voicemail on my direct dial number 07-889-3953 as I am generally away from the office during school hours.
